When a late fee may apply

A late fee may apply when an eligible document is first submitted more than 180 days after its document date. Day 180 does not meet the “more than 180 days” rule.

How the late fee is calculated

The current late fee is 10% of the main eligible charge for the case.

For example, a $100.00 main charge produces a separate $10.00 late-fee charge. Both amounts in this example are in BSD.

Find the late fee

  1. Select Applications on the top navigation bar.
  2. Find the submitted package. If you need help, see Find draft and submitted applications.
  3. Open Package View.
  4. Select Make Payment. The package's Online Payment page opens.
  5. Find Late Fee under Charge Type.
  6. Check the fee under Amount Due (BSD).

Amount Due (BSD) is the unpaid balance for that charge line. It can be lower than the original late fee after a payment has been applied.
